2007 Prime Ministers Employer of the Year Awards

The Prime Minister’s Employer of the Year Awards for 2007 were presented at a gala event, held at the Great Hall, Parliament House on Thursday 9 August 2007.

The Awards recognise excellence in the employment of people with disability, with winners and finalists selected from hundreds of nominations, from across Australia.

Around 450 guests attended the Awards evening, including the then Minister for Workforce Participation, Dr Sharman Stone MP, other Members of Parliament, Senators, employers, employees and industry representatives.

Television journalist, Ellen Fanning, was Master of Ceremony for the 2007 Awards.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by singer Tim McCallum, accompanied by the Royal Military College Band Duntroon. Tim received a standing ovation from the room for his inspiring renditions of songs such as The Prayer and La Donna e mobile.

The Winners of the Awards for 2007 are:

  • National Employer of the Year – Coles Group Ltd
  • Large Employer of the Year- Hunter New England Area Health Service
  • Medium Employer of the Year – Morwell Taxis
  • Small Employer of the Year  - Shoalhaven Heads Tourist Park

Employer of the Year:

From these categories an overall winner was awarded the special honour of 2007 Prime Minister’s Employer of the Year. This Award was presented to:

  • Hunter New England Area Health Service

The winner of the 2007 Provider of Australian Government Employment Service Award is:

  • Community Employment Options Inc (Qld)
