Indigenous youth success story - Michael

MichaelMichael is a 19-year-old break dancer who dreams of one day running his own dance agency where he could be a role model to other young Indigenous dancers like himself.

But to get the kind of experience he needs to reach his goals, he needs work experience and training. He’d like to study business at TAFE or maybe get a job where he could learn administration and office skills, but he’s unsure where to start.

Michael visited Centrelink where he was quickly referred to his local Job Network member. Michael told them about himself and they gave him advice on his career options, organised some training to give him computer skills and helped him prepare a résumé to take to job interviews.

Michael is now working in administration at a local performing arts company – getting the skills he needs to one day make his dreams a reality!
