JobSearch—connecting employers to skilled job seekers
JobSearch is Australia’s largest free online job board. jobsearch.gov.au can connect you with skilled Australian job seekers and also gives you the option of having your vacancies matched to eligible skilled migrant job seekers.
Can any vacancy be matched to a skilled migrant job seeker?
Only those vacancies that belong to an occupation or specialisation that is in national demand, has good employment prospects, and is listed on the Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL) will be matched to an eligible skilled migrant.
The MODL is made up of occupations that the Australian Government considers are skills in national demand and is based on extensive labour market research across Australia. The list is reviewed and updated every six months and can be viewed at www.immi.gov.au.
What do you need to do to have your vacancy matched to a skilled migrant?
As soon as you lodge your new vacancy using the ‘advertise a job’ function on jobsearch.gov.au, JobSearch will determine if the vacancy is an occupation or specialisation that is on the MODL. If it is a MODL occupation, you will be given the option of agreeing to have your vacancy matched to eligible skilled migrant job seekers.
What happens next?
Once you choose the matching option, your vacancy will be advertised to Australian job seekers only for 28 days. After that time, your vacancy will be matched to both Australian and skilled migrant job seekers for a further 32 days, or until the vacancy is filled, whichever is earlier.
JobSearch Find Staff function
When registered on JobSearch as an employer, you can use the JobSearch Find Staff function to search for candidates, browse résumés and find the right person for your job. Once you have lodged a MODL vacancy, you can also search for skilled migrant job seekers. You do this by identifying your vacancy ID in the field provided and by browsing the résumés of skilled migrant job seekers.

Within this initiative, how do skilled migrants qualify to work in Australia?

They have passed an English literacy test, and have been invited to register a skills profile to assist them in finding employment in Australia.
