Christina, a consultant with Central Victorian Group Training (CVGT) uses ESP because “It lets us know where our job seekers are in terms of their skills …. It encourages them to think about jobs in general, what they can do.” 

ESP identifies the employability skills of job seekers and highlights the job types that best suit their strengths.

…There’s a certain proportion of clients who need confirmation that they are on the right career track and for them to have ESP to confirm that they are heading in the right direction is a real confidence booster. 

At CVGT, consultants focus on different aspects of ESP. Christina focuses on the Employability Skills Profile (strengths report) and encourages her clients to use the report to promote their skills to employers. 

Since completing the ESP I notice that my clients are more motivated. It makes them more confident … and they use the reports to market themselves.” 

One of Christina’s clients was offered a job within a week of completing ESP. ESP confirmed what the job seeker wanted to do - she was crazy about AFL and wanted a traineeship in administration. The job seeker obtained a hosting position with the MCG and used it as a way to get her foot in the door for an AFL traineeship. She used her ESP reports to show her suitability for the job.

Christina adds that job seekers are not the only ones to benefit from ESP - it has also made her job easier. It helps Christina identify her clients’ skills.

We use ESP heavily at CVGT and I would recommend it to other consultants,” she adds.
