Jane - wider search young
Jane* is 24 and has been unemployed for 20 months. She has worked in a variety of short-term jobs but hasn’t trained in a specific profession - she feels this lack of training could be the reason she’s having difficulty finding work.
Her Job Network consultant suggested she complete ESP to identify her strengths and see whether she was suited to a career in her areas of interest - business administration or customer service.
ESP showed that Jane was well suited to a range of jobs she had never considered previously. “It was interesting what ESP told me about myself…the kind of skills I had that I didn’t even know I had.”
The Employability Skills Profiler is an online tool that:
- identifies a job seeker’s employability skill strengths
- indicates employability skill training needs to improve job fit
- identifies a job seeker’s fit with a range of occupations
- provides employers with objective information about a job seeker’s employability skills and job suitability
Jane’s consultant discussed her ESP results and options for training with her. They also discussed work in other areas identified by ESP that Jane was interested in, such as working with animals.
“ESP has rejuvenated her and she’s out there looking for jobs in a wider rather than a narrow field” says Jane’s consultant.
Jane says she will certainly recommend ESP to other job seekers who are not sure of what they want to do, as it will give them a real insight into their skills.
