Stuart, a consultant with Pegler Personnel, is an enthusiastic advocate of ESP.
Stuart says that the company director was keen to use ESP as a tool to help clients identify job options they (or the consultant) had not thought of before.
“As a test case we put a job seeker through … to see how it [ESP] would work and what kind of information we got.”
The staff looked at the information generated by ESP; both the consultant and the job seeker were happy with the reports.
Stuart explains to his clients what ESP involves and the benefits it will provide. Where clients are not computer literate, Stuart ensures they complete a computer class prior to completing ESP.
“We are putting more of our clients through ESP as we are getting used to it. I use ESP … if I come to a dead end with a client as to what work or areas of employment to encourage them to look in,” reveals Stuart.
Stuart agrees that ESP has made his job easier by identifying alternative job options for clients.
His clients are often surprised about the number of jobs or occupations they are suited to but had never considered.
“Our clients are happy with the results … I notice that those who complete the ESP now have a different way of approaching things.”
Since completing ESP, Stuart’s clients have refocused their job search and have updated their résumé to reflect their newly identified employability skills.
“ESP is another tool we can use… It will definitely be part of our plan for a time to come in the organisation. We go through it at every staff meeting and remind consultants to book in clients who need it.’’
