IP Pack - GEERS and insolvency practitioners
As an insolvency practitioner (IP), you are the primary contact for employees who are owed entitlements as a result of the insolvency of their employer. Please note the following important points about the role of GEERS in the insolvency process:
- The Department requests that you do not provide any undertakings about employees' eligibility for GEERS assistance. The Department advises employees of their eligibility in writing after assessing their claim.
- The Department requests that you provide verified employee entitlements information within four weeks of receiving the initial GEERS pack.
- Once the Department receives verified employee entitlements information, it aims to advance eligible entitlements to you within four weeks.
- GEERS claimants have a right to request a review and/or an appeal within 28 days of the Department's written decision.
- Specific information relating to GEERS claims, including updating employee details, should be directed to the GEERS Hotline on 1300 135 040 or email to GEERS@deewr.gov.au
- Please contact the GEERS Hotline or your Case Manager if you require any assistance at any point in the process.
