CDEP Placement Incentive

The Community Development Employment Projects (CDEP) program is successful in developing the work skills of participants. One of the objectives of CDEP is to act as a staging post for Indigenous participants to move into the mainstream labour market.

CDEP providers may receive up to $3025 when a participant leaves the CDEP and moves into on-going employment for at least 15 hours per week.

CDEP providers in transition are entitled to apply for CDEP Placement Incentive for employment outcomes for eligible CDEP participants placed in ongoing employment in their new organisations.

The incentive will be paid where the CDEP provider is the employer or the job is funded by CDEP grant funds, providing that the employee is paid full award rates in an eligible position and is not on the CDEP schedule and is not receiving CDEP wages.

  • From 1 July 2007 a payment of $550 is made at commencement of employment, a further $1,650 after 13 weeks of employment, with a final payment of $825 after 26 weeks of employment. CDEP providers are not eligible for a third CDEP Placement Incentive payment where the former CDEP participant exited CDEP prior to 1 July 2007.
  • The job can be in the private, public or community sector.
  • The job can be subsidised (for example through Wage Assistance) but the participant must be off the CDEP schedule.
  • The participant can find his/her own job - the CDEP does not need to organise the placement.
Existing CDEP providers whose CDEP contracts cease will have CDEPManager access removed from 30 June 2007.

Where those providers are eligible for an initial or final payment for placements made prior to 1 July 2007, they will need to apply using a paper application.

Exiting CDEPs should fax completed applications directly to the Indigenous Employment Line on 02 6276 9617 for processing.

CDEP providers in transition will continue to have access to CDEPManager to lodge CDEP Placement Incentive applications.
