About Job Placement Services
Job Placement Services are Australian Government funded recruitment services, with over 400 organisations delivering services from over 2500 offices.
Job Placement Services provide:
- Services for job seekers
Job Placement Organisations (JPOs) are funded by the Australian Government to place registered job seekers into jobs. In most areas of Australia there are many JPOs working with employers to source vacancies and each JPO works with different employers and industries. Talk to all the JPOs in your local area to see which ones can work best for you, to help you find a job.
- Services for employers
Job Placement Organisations deal directly with employers to source vacancies and place job seekers into those vacancies.
- For recruitment organisations
DEEWR encourages established recruitment organisations with a proven track record of placing job seekers into vacancies to grow their business and apply for a Job Placement Licence. DEEWR accepts applications on a continuous basis and processes them quarterly.
Job Placement Services are provided by private recruitment companies and providers of Australian Government employment services, including Job Network members, Disability Employment Network members and Australian Apprenticeship Centres. These organisations are called Job Placement Organisations (JPOs).
Job Placement Organisations (JPOs) are licensed by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) to canvass employers and host organisations for vacancies/assignments for lodgement on Australian JobSearch. They then match, screen, refer and place suitable registered job seekers into those vacancies on behalf of the employer or host organisation.
The Welfare to Work reforms encourage employers to have more flexible workplace arrangements and to tap into a more diverse pool of potential employees. These reforms are designed to overcome barriers on both sides of the labour market (supply and demand) by connecting employers with job seekers and vice versa. Job Placement Services complement Welfare to Work reforms by increasing employment opportunities for registered job seekers.
DEEWR encourages established recruitment organisations with a proven track record of placing job seekers into vacancies to apply for a Job Placement Licence. DEEWR accepts applications on a continuous basis and processes them quarterly.
Four hundred thousand paid Job Placement places are available each year to JPOs, with fees ranging from $165-$385, depending on the eligibility of the job seeker. An additional bonus of $165 is available for successfully placing a registered job seeker who works 50 or more hours over 10 consecutive working days.
