Three years after migrating from China, Linda Chen started China Direct Sourcing on a PC in an internet cafe with just $2000 funding. But she had the training and ongoing support of the NEIS programme behind her. In 2007, Lindy was a finalist in the Queensland Businesswoman of the Year Awards.

Fleeing war torn Liberia and then Sierra Leone, Abdul and Aminata Saccoh arrived in Tasmania as refugees in July 2005. Settling in Launceston, and drawing on their past experiences, they quickly set about building a life for themselves and their children. With the help of NEIS and Mission Australia, the couple were soon able to establish a new business - Culture2Culture.
