Glossary of terms
Certified document. Documents that have been certified or guaranteed by a certifying person as a true copy of the original document
Certifying person. Your country has suitably qualified people who are able to witness your signature on a legal document, e.g. lawyer, doctor, policeman, school teacher.
Complete application form. Is an application that is submitted on the correct TRA application form; all relevant sections have been filled in; is signed by the applicant or nominated agent; and is accompanied by the correct application fee.
Decision ready application. A decision ready application must be complete and contain all necessary documents and is taken as being the applicant’s best case for recognition. TRA does not call for additional information.
Domestic Skills Assessment. An assessment of skills carried out for the purposes of the issue of an Australian Recognised Trade Certificate
Evidence. Certificates, statutory declarations, written information and documents about your training and work experience from your employers and/or training institutions.
General statements from employers. Statements with a small amount of information are not enough. Generally work references are not enough.

International Skills Assessment. An assessment of skills carried out under the Migration Regulations 1994 for the purposes of skilled migration to Australia
Legal declaration for self-employed applicants. Your country has legal documents that you can use to describe your work in your own words. Your signing of the document needs to be witnessed by a certifying person.
Non-graduate occupation /Trade level occupation. An occupation that requires a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical competence (skill of hand) and work experience in an industrial context.
Priority application. An application for International skills assessment for which a priority processing fee is paid. Priority applications are processed first within their category in order of date of receipt
Review. You may apply to have the assessment decision reviewed. The review process will consider all the information you provide, including any new information.
Statement of service. A detailed letter from your employer describing all the training or work you have been doing, including dates of employment and employer contact details. This statement will be used by TRA to assess your skills.
Tradesperson. A person possessing the skills equivalent to those of an Australian apprentice trained tradesperson.
Verifiable evidence. TRA may contact your employers to talk about your claims of work experience or training.
