Small Area Labour Markets - March Quarter 2009 (  PDF 910KB)

Small Area Labour Markets presents estimates of the number of unemployed persons and unemployment rates for approximately 1400 Statistical Local Areas across Australia.

Due to the transition from the 2001 Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) to the 2006 ASGC, there have been significant boundary changes to around 230 SLAs, resulting in the earliest available smoothed data for these SLAs being for the September quarter 2008. For further details please see the Changes to the ASGC and SALM document.

In addition to the geography change, new population benchmarks based on the 2006 Census of Population and Housing have also been introduced in the March quarter 2009. The SALM data have been revised back to the June quarter 2007 (unsmoothed) and are available in the Backcast data document below.
