Latest (August 2008) DEEWR Leading Indicator of Employment
DEEWR's Monthly Leading Indicator of Employment (Indicator) has fallen for seven consecutive months. This monthly Indicator anticipates movements in the growth cycle of employment. It does this through the use of a composite index of four weighted series (ANZ Newspaper Job Advertisements, Dun and Bradstreet Employment Expectation, the Westpac Melbourne Institute Leading Indicator of Economic Activity and the Consumer Sentiment Index) statistically ascertained to lead employment growth over the last two decades. The publication presents estimates of the number of unemployed persons and unemployment rates for approximately 1350 Statistical Local Areas across Australia. It also provides estimates of the main labour market aggregates for the 19 DEEWR Labour Market Regions.

ALP wins election
