New National Employment Standards
Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations Julia Gillard released the new National Employment Standards (PDF 190KB) (RTF 378KB), a key element in the Government’s plan for Australian workplace relations.

The Standards were developed following consideration of submissions to the exposure draft. Public submissions are available for viewing.

Award Modernisation Request
The Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Julia Gillard issued a revised Award Modernisation Request to the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC).
The revised request has been made to reflect the final version of the National Employment Standards (NES) by the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, and the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations.
The revised request provides guidance on how the NES and modern awards are to interact.
