Comcare is the scheme which provides workers' compensation and occupational health and safety arrangements for Australian Government employees and for the employees of certain private corporations. On 11 December 2007 a moratorium on new corporations joining the Comcare scheme was announced along with a review of the scheme.
As part of its Social Inclusion Agenda, the Australian Government undertook to review employment services, including the Job Network and Disability Employment Network.
On 1 March 2007 the new independent contractors laws came into effect. The laws will give independent contractors greater flexibility in how they run their business.
