The Minister for Employment & Workplace Relations, the Hon Julia Gillard MP today introduced the ‘Building and Construction Industry Improvement Amendment (Transition to Fair Work) Bill 2009’ into the Australian Parliament.

Wilcox Report Released
On 3 April 2009 the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, The Hon Julia Gillard MP, released the report by the Hon Murray Wilcox QC into the transition to Fair Work Australia for the building and construction industry.

Discussion Paper Released
The Hon Murray Wilcox QC has today released his Discussion Paper inviting written submissions by 5 December 2008. Mr Wilcox has been appointed by the Australian Government to undertake extensive consultations with industry stakeholders to ensure the transition to the new arrangements for the building and construction industry are orderly, effective and robust.

Government Announces Consultation on Transition to Fair Work Australia for Building and Construction
The Australian Government has announced an extensive consultation process with industry stakeholders to ensure the orderly and effective transition from the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC) to a specialist building and construction division of Fair Work Australia (‘the Specialist Division’).
