2 April 2009
The Rudd Government is investing more than $4 billion over the next three years in new, more effective employment services.
30 March 2009
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations is now finalising the outcomes of the tender for Government’s Employment Services contracts 2009-2012.
The Department wants to reaffirm no final decisions or offers of business have been made or communicated to any Tenderers.
Those who have tendered will receive advice of the outcome of their bids promptly once tender decisions are complete. This is expected shortly.
In November 2008 the Department agreed to an industry request to extend the closing date for tenders by a week which has needed to be accommodated.
The Department understands and appreciates this is an important time for all Tenderers and their staff and acknowledges the need for staff be informed as soon as possible of the final tender outcomes.
When results have been communicated to tenderers, the Department will be working closely with all providers and staff to assist them to transition in the lead up to start of the new employment services on 1 July 2009.
Thank you

Update - Request for Tender for Employment Services 2009-12
On 1 July 2009, new employment services will commence in Australia.
The new employment services are a result of extensive consultation with industry and stakeholders between January 2008 and to date.
A Request for Tender (RFT) for Employment Services 2009 12 was released on 27 September 2008 with tender submissions closing on 14 November 2008. Since this time, the Department has been undertaking the extensive process of evaluating all the tender bids against the published selection criteria and short-listing preferred tenderers.
The tender process has been conducted in a robust and thorough manner in order to obtain the best outcomes. Tenders were subject to an in-depth and rigorous assessment against the published selection criteria, by staff of the Department with relevant experience, expertise, and regional knowledge, in order to select the best providers to meet the needs of job seekers and local communities. It has been monitored by an external probity advisor to ensure full adherence to the selection process, fairness and transparency.
In accordance with paragraph 4.14.7 of the RFT, prior to the tender outcomes being finalised, preferred tenderer advice will be provided. This allows the Department to undertake negotiations, where needed, with relevant preferred tenderers.
Advice will be issued to preferred tenderers for receipt by them by the commencement of business on Tuesday 17 March 2009.
The negotiation phase is expected to conclude toward the end of March 2009.
No final decisions on the tender outcome have been made and final decisions will not be made until the conclusion of these negotiations. Subject to the outcomes of this phase, there may be further opportunities for tenderers who have not been contacted as part of this process.
All questions regarding the current procurement process should be directed to 1300 733 514 or espurchasing@deewr.gov.au.
It is expected that final tender results will be announced, with all tenderers being advised of the outcome, by the end of March.
