The Minister for Employment Participation, the Hon Brendan O’Connor MP, released the Exposure Draft of Purchasing Arrangements for the new Employment Services on Friday 1 August 2008.
The development of the range of services outlined within this Exposure Draft has been guided by the feedback received from all stakeholders in response to the review of employment services undertaken in January 2008 and the release of, and subsequent consultation on, The Future of Employment Services in Australia: A Discussion Paper in May 2008. The purpose of the Exposure Draft is to gain further valuable feedback on the proposed purchasing arrangements and the Draft Contract before the Request for Tender is issued, anticipated for release in September 2008.
To assist potential tenderers for the new employment services the Department (DEEWR) has provided some modelling information (RTF 176KB) based on historical data and has been updated with two new tables.
The New Employment Services page details the background of the review which led to the new purchasing arrangements.
The Australian Government is committed to consultation on policy and values the opinions of those who are most involved in these services – job seekers, employment service providers and employers.
A series of public consultation sessions were held nationally from 6 – 14 August 2008 including an online LiveMeet session. The powerpoint presentation New Employment Services in Australia, National Consultations August 2008 (PDF 177KB) was shown at each consultation session.
