Labour Economics Office - New South Wales Office

Functions

The New South Wales Labour Economics Office monitors State and regional labour market and economic trends. Analysis is undertaken of the labour market characteristics of particular population groups and of trends in different types of employment. A key role is research into occupational trends with particular focus on current and emerging skill shortages. Advice is provided to the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs on employer-sponsored migration applications.

Clients to whom labour market information is provided include staff in DEWR and partner organisations (such as Job Network providers, Centrelink and Area Consultative Committees) and the area provides briefing material for ministers.
