Labour Economics Office - Northern Territory Office

Office role

The role of the Northern Territory Labour Economics Office is to provide advice which will promote the formulation of effective employment policies and programmes which are responsive to current and emerging economic and labour market conditions.  This is done by monitoring, researching and analysing the local labour market and economic conditions.

Functions

  • Research and analyse occupational trends with particular focus on occupations identified as problematic or in actual or emerging shortage.
  • Analyse regional economic and labour market conditions.
  • Provide ad hoc labour market information to a range of clients (eg. DEEWR staff, education and training providers, other government agencies, members of the public, employer organisations, students, unions, the Northern Territory Area Consultative Committee etc).
  • Undertake the monthly Skilled Vacancy Survey.
